Leben Als Mami: Folge deiner Intuition

Sarah_Marcos_339

Keeping Up a Balanced Self-Care Practice As a Mommy

Sarah_Marcos_357Self- care is key to well-being, but it is not always easy to keep up with a regular self- care practice. For many it is difficult to develop one at all. Being a mom means putting ones own needs aside and fully being there for the baby. Balancing taking care of one self with taking care of the baby can be very challenging, yet very important. In this post I talk about why the practice of self- care as a mom is so important and how we as moms can balance fully being there for our baby with being there for our self. I call it self-care practice because it is a continuous process of learning. At times it works better and others less, always requiring us to reflect, learn, and adapt to any given moment.

Dealing With the Physical Changes of Pregnancy

Sarah_Marcos_122

Part of pregnancy is a changing body. All pregnant women have to deal with it. For some the changes are bigger than for others, but all of us experience changes. Not all changes are always visible to others and it often takes a while until others can see any changes, but the women itself can notice them as early as in the first month of pregnancy. The changes do not disappear with the birth, but stay for some time. Like with everything we can’t prevent it is most helpful to learn to deal with it in a positive way instead of complaining about it.

How to Keep Calm When Your Baby Is Crying

FullSizeRender (1)
Nailah is now eight weeks old and within these eight weeks we have gone through days of almost no crying at all to days with a lot of crying. We are learning to differentiate between the different cries, trying to understand what Nailah needs when she cries. Hearing Nailah cry can be challenging and sometimes I wish she could speak in a language we understand and tell us what is wrong so that we can give her what she needs. This is obviously not an option and that is why we as parents need to learn to deal with our baby crying. In the past weeks I have been working on learning ways to keep calm also in moments where Nailah cries for longer periods of time or in public spaces.

Two Weeks with Nailah

IMG_4076

Our little Nailah Lielle is finally here! She was born a bit more than two weeks ago, 11 days after her estimated due date, and we are just so incredibly happy and thankful. We are now mom and dad (we actually are already since 10 months, but now we can hold her in our arms) and these past weeks since Nailah’s birth have been the most beautiful in my life. I feel so centered, present in every moment, relaxed and connected to myself and the people who are close to me. It feels as if Nailah has always been with us and as if we already know each other forever. From the moment our little girl was born there was such a strong connection and it all just feels so natural. On the other hand everything is new and we are still in the process of getting to know each other. Read More

How my Pregnancy Has Taught me to Appreciate and Connect to my Body More than Ever

sarah_marcos_117

Pregnancy amazes me so much. A body can be the home of another human being for 9 months or so, giving shelter, caring for it, nurturing it and helping it to develop and grow and at the same time function to care for the self. I call myself very lucky to able to experience this miracle and would like to share how the pregnancy has taught me to love, trust and appreciate my body to an extent I have never experienced before.

Pregnancy Friendly Exercises: Calming Breathing Exercise ‘Alternate Nostril Breathing’

sarah_marcos_378

Alternate nostril breathing is a calming and balancing exercise. It is amazing for anyone and absolutely safe to be practiced by pregnant women. It is great for those new to breathing exercises or meditation. I find that alternate nostril breathing is extremely helpful in calming the mind, even on days where my thoughts won’t stop running through my head. I like to practice it also on days where I feel a little down. It truly helps to concentrate and find ease.
